Comparing 9, the short and 9, the full length

 Short – film

My impression of the short film is that it looks as if there is a world that was destroyed assuming by the creature that appeared at the beginning. It seems as if one of the rag dolls were looking into something as if he remembered a time as it transitioned to what he was remembering. The memory starts as there are two ragdolls who appear to be looking for things to save themselves at the beginning. The creature eventually kills one of the rag dolls known as number 5 leaving number 9 as the last standing doll. Number 9 carries this green glowing thing that the creature also has that when you put them together all the souls of the old dolls come back. Number 9 killed the creature and stuck the two pieces together as the souls started to emersed from the tool and the filmed shortly after.

I would describe the plot as a destroyed world from a mystical creature as the last rag doll is left to bring back the lives of the other dolls killed.

The character development in the main character 9 shows precisely throughout the 7 minutes of the short film. He appears to be the strongest and bravest as he did defeat the creature that has killed all other dolls. He shows his intelligence at the beginning as he builds things and puts stuff together. He shows his bravery as he tricks the creature a couple of times eventually leading to him being able to kill him.

Special effects used throughout the short film could be examples of smoke, flashing lights, transitions, and more.

Convections used throughout the short film can be examples of 1st point of view being through number 9.  Setting is being taken what appears to be a destroyed planet. One main convection could be the movie being a science fiction genre filled with time travel, dolls, and creatures.

Full length film -

My impression of the full-length film helps me get a better understanding of what happened in the movie. Clearly the right way to describe this movie would be a scientist sparking the life of rag dolls as it created an explosion and there is no other human life on earth except these dolls and creatures. The main rag doll wakes up to a destroyed planet to see there are plenty of others like him. They are soon started to die off by this creature who has a liking for killing them all. Number 9 continues looking for answers on why this is happening to them and what this monster wants. As 9 and all other dolls come together to kill these creatures instead of hiding because they know there only chance of survival is fighting back.

The character development in the longer version of the film is different from the cut version. Here I get introduced to many other rag dolls just like number 9 as they all come together. I got to learn the feelings and intentions of number 9 more as it causes a more connection between the audience and him.

Conventions in the longer version are quite like the first just with many more different elements. For example, in the extended film there are more characters, situations that happen, and events that take places compared to the 7-minute film.

Comparing both the short and full-length films you get to learn a lot more about the movie. Although the short length does give you a plot and an understanding of what the movie is about, the longer length version gives you lots of extra details and situations that help develop the plot more and give the story film a meaning and goal. I liked the longer version better because we got to see the rag dolls fighting against the creatures and being brave and fighting for what is theirs. They have awakened something that they soon to learn that was created by a man just like them.
